Book Your Tickets for the Spring Fling Hamper Dance

Tickets are now live for a brand-new event exclusively designed for Members and Associates of The Royal Company of Merchants.

The Spring Fling Hamper Dance is the first of its kind at Merchants’ Hall, where you and your guests are invited to bring your own picnic supper (your hamper) and enjoy an informal night of ceilidh dancing, led by the fantastic CORRA ceilidh band.

An Evening with Police Chief Constable Jo Farrell
Wednesday 7th May 2025

We are excited to welcome Chief Constable Jo Farrell as the guest speaker for our next evening event at Merchants’ Hall.

With overall command of the Police Service of Scotland, she leads 22,000 officers and staff serving communities across a third of the UK landmass. Police Scotland is the second largest force in the UK, following the Metropolitan Police Force.

This will be a free event featuring a 30-minute talk, followed by a 30-minute Q&A session. After the formal part of the evening, attendees will have the opportunity to network and continue discussions over a glass of wine. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear insights from one of the UK’s most senior law enforcement leaders.

Southern Light: Jesus Christ Superstar

Thursday 8th May 2025

At over 2,500 square feet, the Festival Theatre stage is the largest in Scotland and the third largest in the UK. Now, we’re offering our Members the rare opportunity to stand on that iconic stage and gaze out at the 1,915-seat auditorium.

Following this unforgettable moment, you’ll watch Southern Light perform Jesus Christ Superstar. The first collaboration between Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber and Sir Tim Rice has captivated audiences for over 40 years. Southern Light, Edinburgh’s oldest amateur musical theatre company, consistently earns 4- and 5-star reviews.

You’ll be welcomed by John Robb, Capital Theatres’ Technical Director and the King’s Future Project Manager, for an engaging behind-the-scenes look at the theatre’s magic and an update on the King’s Theatre redevelopment. After your stage experience, enjoy pre-performance drinks in the Event Rooms, mingle with fellow Members, and learn more about Capital Theatres’ community work.Members are welcome to bring friends and family. And keep an eye out — you might spot a familiar face among Judas’ backing singers.

Midsummer Ball

This Midsummer’s Eve, escape the city and step into a night of magic at our Midsummer Ball.

Dress: 👔 Black tie

Celebrate the lightest evening of the year with an elegant drinks reception on the lawn, followed by a delicious three-course meal. A cash bar will be available throughout the evening.

Enjoy live ceilidh music by Callanish and extra magical entertainment.

There will also be fundraising activities in aid of My Edinburgh.
