On Tuesday 17th September, the Royal Company of Merchants proudly hosted the prize-giving event for its second annual portraiture competition, in collaboration with ESMS and George Watson’s College. The event featured a judging panel of photographer Robin Gillanders and artist Henry Kondracki from The Royal Scottish Academy, who generously gave their time to evaluate all submissions and speak at the event on the day.
The competition included the Junior and Senior Prizes for painting and photography, with certificates awarded to the top three winners in each category. A special category for teachers was also enthusiastically participated in by both school art departments.
Branded goodie bags were handed out to all guests
A special thanks is due to Vincent Mason from our Archives and Treasures Committee for organising the whole initiative, as well as compiling the guest list and liaising with the RSA to ensure the event’s success. The ceremony was well attended, allowing our members to meet and greet the talented prize winners and their families. We also received excellent feedback on the Merchant Company goodie bags handed out to attendees.
