The Master hosted a working breakfast for the 690th Lord Mayor of the City of London, William Russell, at Merchants’ Hall on 29 January 2020.
The event in the Court Room was attended by 40 business people, made up of Royal Company Members and representatives of the Financial Technology sector in Edinburgh. The Lord Mayor, along with his entourage, tour the world as ambassadors of the City of London, and the focus for his trip to Edinburgh was to make contacts with the Scottish financial community and encourage further links between Edinburgh and London.
After breakfast he spoke about his work and priorities for his year in office before networking with the assembled company. A vote of thanks was given by Old Master Douglas Kinloch Anderson whose brother, Sir Eric Kinloch Anderson, had been the Lord Mayor’s headmaster when he was at school.
